Biography

Laura Castille is excited to return to Cuddy & McCarthy, LLP.  She left Cuddy in November 2018, to oversee the Office of Institutional Equity at New Mexico State University.  Ms. Castille will continue to live in Las Cruces, New Mexico, and work from the newly created Southern New Mexico branch of Cuddy & McCarthy, LLP.

Ms. Castille earned two degrees at New Mexico State University, including a B.A. in Political Science in 1992, and an M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction in 1994.  After leaving NMSU, Ms. Castille traveled and taught high school in Chihuahua Mexico, Austin, Texas; Boulder, Colorado and Albuquerque, New Mexico.  Ms. Castille was a awarded a competitive fellowship to earn a Certificate in Educational Leadership at the University of New Mexico, graduating in 2004.  Ms. Castille worked as a high school administrator for eight years.  She last served as Assistant Principal, in charge of curriculum, at West Mesa High School in Albuquerque, before leaving in 2012 to attend law school.

In 2014, Ms. Castille graduated from the UNM School of Law and began working at Cuddy & McCarthy LLP.  Ms. Castille remains a licensed Level III Teacher and Educational Leader in New Mexico.  She is licensed to practice law by the State Bar of New Mexico and the Federal Bar.  Ms. Castille is certified as a mediator, Title IX Coordinator and Title IX Investigator.

Ms. Castille takes great pride in her family.  She has two daughters – a Freshman and a Senior in high school.  Her husband is a teacher and head football coach at Organ Mountain High School in Las Cruces.

Ms. Castille’s law practice will focus on representing schools in all areas of the law from contracts to employee issues.  Ms. Castille has expertise in Special Education matters, Title IX investigations and hearings, as well as HRB/EEOC matters.
