Biography
Rebecca Dempsey is a Partner in the Santa Fe office of Cuddy & McCarthy. Her practice concentrates in the areas of water law, public utilities, administrative law, and Indian law.
Rebecca obtained her B.A. from University of New Mexico in 1974. She obtained her J.D. summa cum laude in 1981 from the University of New Mexico (Order of the Coif) where she graduated first in her class.
Rebecca served as law clerk for the Honorable Howard C. Bratton, Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the District of New Mexico from 1981 to 1984. From 1984 to 1993 she practiced law with the firm of Carpenter, Crout & Olmstead. From 1993 to 1997 she was a Special Assistant Attorney General with the New Mexico Office of the State Engineer, representing the State Engineer and Interstate Stream Commission in federal and state courts and regulatory proceedings.
Rebecca is admitted to practice before the state courts of New Mexico, the United States District Court for the District of New Mexico, the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit and the United States Supreme Court. She also represents clients regularly before the New Mexico Office of the State Engineer and the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission.
